Why You Should Use Luggage Storage

I get it, a cellphone store to hold your luggage? It sounds sketchy as hell.

But trust me when I say, this is the future of travel. And if you’re a loyal Airbnb user who too often finds themselves in a destination, bags in tow, with hours to kill before check-in, you need to use a service like Bounce.

We discovered this firsthand in London this summer. Our flight got into Heathrow following a red-eye at 7 a.m., but our Airbnb check-in? That wasn’t until 3 p.m. Seven pieces of luggage strong, we weren’t going to get very far in The Big Smoke trailing a series of rollers and stuffed backpacks. That’s how I found Bounce. The app allows you to find storage sites all over the world that will hold your bags while you explore.

And, naturally, in a city like London, there are dozens of them. But don’t expect to roll up to a clearly marked Bounce site. What you’ll more often find is a bodega, hostel, or in our case, cellphone store, that doubles as a Bounce provider. Blocks from our Airbnb in Piccadilly, we found our first Bounce location, marked by a tiny sticker in its window. The friendly staff quickly tallied up our luggage, requested we photograph it for extra insurance, then stored it downstairs. Easy peasy! When we returned in the afternoon after trekking hands-free across the city from Trafalgar Square to London Bridge, Buckingham and back, the same gentleman retrieved our bags and asked us to leave him a nice review on the app.

A similar Bounce situation took place on our stop in York. Hot off a train, we walked into the city, then knocked on the door of a hostel/Bounce site. Here the manager rolled our cases into a massive locked closet and we were free to go. While I wouldn’t leave a bag with boatloads of cash in it, I felt entirely safe in the care of both Bounce vendors. Plus, the app provides some additional protection, a $10,000 BounceShield™️ guarantee.

Not surprisingly, this isn’t the only storage solution to come online. You can also check out Stasher, Radical Storage, and Nannybag—and never let cumbersome luggage hamstring your sightseeing again.

Happily waiting (hands-free) to enter the British Museum.
